Tolstoy's War and Peace is the greatest book I've read... So give it a try if you like Russian literature!
I also recommend:
Crime and Punishment/Notes from the Underground/The Brothers Karamazov, by Dostoevsky (any of his short stories are great too)
Dune, by Frank Herbert
Brave New World, by Aldous Huxley
1984, by George Orwell
Atlas Shrugged/Fountainhead, by Ayn Rand
If you like philosophy, try Plato's Republic, or Nietzsche's Anti-Christ/Thus Spake Zarathustra, or Marcus Aurelius' Meditations, or Kierkegaard's Fear and Trembling, or Kafka's The Trial/The Castle.
There are a myriad books you can read... though I duly recommend that you try and indulge yourself with the beauty of War and Peace. It has forever been my favorite book.
