Finagle - v. achieve something by means of trickery or devious methods.

Finagle sounds like 'EffinGal'... And girls trick guys? (Or should I say guys are too gullible? =P)

Does that help?

Just hop in if you want. Put some vocab words that you have trouble remembering or have had trouble remembering; we'll help too.

Taking your virginity without consent? The heck? =O

Yep, I've done loads of vocab with the weirdest rhyming words. But the weirder it is... the more you remember.

Shoot the words, and I'll try to come up with mnemonic devices with alacrity.

I got one for hubris: it sounds like "who pris" which could be thought of as, "Who that priss?" as in a prissy, arrogant person.

very nice. The question that contained that word had another word with a very similar meaning. Anyone know a synonym for hubris? or close to it?

Hubris n. exaggerated pride or self-confidence.

As norabelle came up with 'Who pris'... mine was going to be 'Who diss' as in 'Who diss(ed) me?'... so that means the person's pride is hurt... but meh, that's a longshot.

[You try coming up with a mnemonic device for that one... =P]

Anyway, I got another one (and I feel stupid even typing this... but I'm definitely sure I won't forget the word if it shows up on the SAT now)...

HUBRIS.

His
Uncle
Bobby
Robby
Is
Snobby

=/
Stop laughing.

As for facetious, (adj. meant to be humorous or funny : not serious), I came up with 'Fayse Shsss' As in 'Fayse (sneer/scoff)'... as in 'Your fayse is ridiculous...' as in making fun of the person's face.

If that makes any sense...
