| does this seem familiar at all? :
Another compelling aspect of Cirque du Soleil's success is that it did not win by taking customers from the already shrinking demand for the circus industry, which historically catered to children. Cirque du Soleil did not compete with Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey's Circus to make this happen. Instead it created uncontested new market space that made the competition irrelevant. It appealed to a whole new group of customers - adults and corporate clients prepared to pay a price that is several times as expensive as traditional circuses for their unprecedented entertainment experience. Significantly, one of the first Cirque productions was titled "We Reinvent the Circus". |

| THE FIRST LINE... is very familiar... because...it states the correct answer.
'Nuff said.
On a side note, I think that this proves the answer is adults slash parents. When stephan googled 'Cirque du Soleil' and came up with THIS info (which quite clearly says that the Cirque's MAIN accomplishment *aka success* was that it 'REINVENTED' the circus by attracting a NEW CROWD (instead of just children)), it's quite safe to say that's what the passage on the SAT was intended to convey. |

| Lol, but collegeboard always changes their articles to fit their answers btw...so your article may say one thing but it may not be what the passage on the SAT says
this happened before in another thread where they googled some of the passages on their SAT a few months ago |

| Attracting parents.. lol.. I just immediately chose that answer without really going over any of the other ones.. The focus of the passage was on how the circus pulled in the older crowd so I just put it down as my answer almost immediately. I wish I didn't though lol.. because parents is too specific... |

| btw, if you've done some SAT practice tests, you'll realize that SAT answers are really straightforward. If it says that the cirque was successful in attracting adults in the passage, the answer wouldn't be "parents"--even if the author of the passage wanted to say that its success was in attracting "adults and corporate clients," those people do NOT equal parents. |

| ^ Sure, but this is like doing a background check on the subject of the passage.
Now, let's say there was a passage about the Statue of Liberty. Given to US from France. Right? It's a symbol of 'freedom' throughout the world and provides a sense of patriotism.
Now the SAT might change the itty bitty stuff like the Statue represents the American Pride, and welcomed the Ellis immigrants to the new, powerful, country etc. It cannot change the fact that the Statue was given to America from France (aka what the Statue is basically known for).
Similarly, the SAT makers might change some aspects of the Cirque (which in fact, I don't think they did... to begin with the passage mentioned how it deviated from the *circus* tradition (went on without animals)) but I doubt they can change what the Cirque is KNOWN for (aka *reinventing the circus) with a new crowd (and the passage DEFINITELY mentioned 'introducing a new tradition').
