ITT: Post your essays and what scores you received on them!

So, the June score report came out today, meaning they gave us copies of our essays; this thread is meant to act as a database of these essays for anyone searching for examples of different scores (in addition to collegeboard's ones)

Anywho, mine are here:

Page 1:

Page 2:

SATESSAY2.jpg - Image - Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

score: 11

ps. To upload, open up the essays in collegeboard score report, right click on the essay and click view image, and enlarge the essay w/ the magnifying glass. Then R-click and save the essays somewhere, preferably as a JPEG or other universally accepted image storing document. Then go to a sight like Image hosting, free photo sharing & video sharing at Photobucket and upload them from your comp. Post pics here.

Whoa, your handwriting is really cool looking. Kinda hard to read, though.

I'm embarrassed to post my essay because it sucks so much, but I do have really neat writing, lol.

EDIT: What was the prompt for your essay? It seems to be different from mine.

Yah, their scanners seem to have made it a bit blurry.

I also wrote a couple corrections in the margins, lol, and a word or two is cut off. Whoops.

My essay prompt was:

Think carefully about the issue presented in the following excerpt and the assignment below.

A society composed of men and women who are not bound by convention—in other words, they do not act according to what others say or do—is far more lively than one in which all people behave alike. When each person's character is developed individually and differences of opinion are acceptable, it is beneficial to interact with new people because they are not mere replicas of those whom one has already met.

Adapted from Bertrand Russell, The Conquest of Happiness

Assignment:

Is it better for a society when people act as individuals rather than copying the ideas and opinions of others? Plan and write an essay in which you develop your point of view on this issue. Support your position with reasoning and examples taken from your reading, studies, experience, or observations.

ESSAY PROMPT

Think carefully about the issue presented in the following excerpt and the assignment:

Most of us are convinced that fame brings happiness. Fame, it seems, is among the things people most desire. We believe that to be famous, for whatever reason, is to prove oneself and confirm that one matters in the world. And yet those who are already famous often complain of the terrible burden of fame. In fact, making the achievement of fame one's life goal involves commitments of time and effort that are usually wasted. Adapted from Leszek Kolakowski, Freedom, Fame, Lying, and Betrayal: Essays on Everyday Life

ASSIGNMENT:
Does fame bring happiness, or are people who are not famous more likely to be happy? Plan and write an essay in which you develop your point of view on this issue. Support your position with reasoning and examples taken from your reading, studies, experience, or observations.

Score: 11

Yeah, I had the same prompt as gigahertz, the fame one. I went into the SAT without any prep, though, and I didn't know how to approach the essay. I scored a 9 but my essay just plain sucked :P

I got a 10... wanted a 12 but anyway I kinda sucked at this essay. Could have done better imo.

Much of what we do has become so complex that most activities require groups or teams of people to perform them. However, although groups are useful for some purposes, for other purposes they can be worse than useless. It is important to focus on what individuals can be and do, since focusing exclusively on groups and teams becomes counterproductive. Adapted from Stanley M. Herman, A Force of Ones
ASSIGNMENT:Are the actions of individuals more valuable than the actions of groups or teams? Plan and write an essay in which you develop your point of view on this issue. Support your position with reasoning and examples taken from your reading, studies, experience, or observations.

My handwriting is atrocious, and idk what it is about this photocopy, but it looks even worse here. I can barely read it myself, lol.

I talked about BRITNEY SPEARS and Jean Valjean, and I got a 12 on the "fame" essay. I thought I did much worse, though.

Hope the handwriting is okay.
