How important is the essay score?
I made a really good score on my SAT but bad grade on the essay. How important is the essay score? Do colleges view essay score as an important component, or do they just look at your overall grade?

essay -- 30% of writing score
MC -- 70% of writing score

so the essay is a decent chunk of the grade

I got all the mc questions right so my overall writing score is still very high

The essay is pretty important. On the October essay I missed 2 writing Q and got an 8 E, making my writing score 720. An extra writing point would have made it a 750.

I'm not concerned about my writing score. I'm just concerned whether colleges will care if the essay score is disproportionally low compared to my overall writing score.

Some colleges compare your SAT essays with your application essays. A growing number of colleges begins to do this.

^that isnt really a good idea. you have unlimited time for application essays and only 25 minutes for the SAT essay

colleges don't really give about your essay score. Since when was any essay written in 20 minutes representative of you writing ability. Just blow them away with your essays and you'll be fine.

well, i dont really mind, since my writing is my best score....and not to brag, but i've gotten 12's three times in a row.
