That's a good one. Why don't you write an essay on this topic and send it to me? I'll be more than glad to grade this one.

There is no "prompt list," per se, but you can find past SAT essay prompts here (scroll down): Preparing For SAT Test |

This REALLY works. Thank you so much AcademicHacker seriously. I had no idea how to write an essay but I followed this and got an 11/12 on the June SAT. In my SAT Class my teachers kept telling me my essays were bad (when I was following this format) and they gave me 8-10's on it because they said my conclusion was abrupt but I did it anyway on the SAT day :P
Anyway, thanks again Academic! |

| Perfect Writing/Essay
Well to all those aspiring for a perfect writing score (800) with a 12 essay, I have some very quick advice that will allow you to achieve this without any excessive prep work (I got a perfect 12/800 without any studying). Here it is:
When writing your essay, stay focused, LIMIT your examples, MULTI-Paragraph (minimum 3, but 4+ is preferable), be firm in following/sticking to your thesis (no wishy washy, it can be both, "you can look at this both ways" etc..).
It's as simple as that, but note, although I did not study and this was my first sitting, bear in mind that I have been refining my writing since middle school and always put forth full effort into my compositions. So when it comes down to it, cramming can never replace years of refined, arduous writing (this also applies to Math and CR).
A little valuable moral that it applicable to anything in life. Good luck to all prospective future SAT takers (I'm finally down with Standardized tests!!!)

| my tips to add on here
This is what I did::
Write three or so practice essays and get people to score them. or use the college board essay scoring thing if you have that program. Get your timing down perfectly so that you have time to go into the correct amount of depth and end with a short but sweet conclusion.
Use at least 2, preferably 3, examples. Maybe throw in a lesser-developed example in your conclusion to tie it all together. It does NOT matter what your examples are as long as they fit.
Don't skimp on the introduction, but about 4 sentences will do. 2 sentences will make a nice conclusion. Use 2 body paragraphs too. The best thesis is one that is relatively complex. Example: “The heart is stronger than the mind, but sometimes the mind can see the practicalities that the heart cannot” rather than simply “Intuition matters more than reason.”
VOCAB! It matters a lot!!! Just read the Direct Hits books because they help both with actual words they test you on and words that they will love if you use them in your essay. I remember using pulchritude and stuff. so yeah. Also throw in some semicolons and don’t overuse commas, which is a very common error.
Also write fast. Your hand may be tired but its worth it. AND USE ALL THE SPACE. That really does matter believe it or not. My writing got really big towards the end just so I could use up all the lines. =D On the other hand, its easy to run OUT of space, too... that's why practicing a couple times is so important.
My examples were Harry Potter, Olympic Athletes (Shawn Johnson, Nastia Liuken, and Michael Phelps), and Barack Obama, and I got a 12 on my first shot. Some may scorn at the lack of erudite literary allusions, but hey, whatever works. =)

This works. I'll vouch for it (not that my vouching means anything special but still)
