I feel really dumb...I read this whole thread, yes all 13 pages, but I have yet to find anything relevant. Everyone is like Xiggi helped me, and stuff, but I don't see how...I read all 13 pages, and the only that I saw that seemed like a trick was the (2*1st*2nd)/(1st+2nd)=x. Everyone is passing me by, telling that it helped them. My question is, what helped you, I can't find what everyone is looking at (yes, I read the first page).

Xiggi..

I am really impressed by your knowledge.

Several times folks have asked you, your scores on the test but I don't see a response to that question.

What were your scores on the test?

Since you are sharing all this info I would assume you did very well and would not mind sharing.

Help?

Hey...my name's Gehna. I've grown up in Saudi Arabia, and now currently stay in Dubai. Hm.. this is honestly a bit awkward...but I'm going to be a high school senior soon, and I'm taking my SAT's in October (yes, I know, a bit late). I took them in June (scoring 1860 :S). My whole life Ive attended a British based school, following a british based ciriculum, and am currently doining the IB programme. But after attending a conference in NY...called Global Young Leaders Conference... I've decided I want to go to university in America. Frankly, I like your interpretation on the SAT. Could You give me a few details? How about an online course?

More than a few posters seem reluctant to share their own scores. One reason may be that while they scored quite well themselves (let's say, 1450+/1600), the scores were not perfect or near-perfect. They may deem such scores to be "sub-par" and think that their revelation may detract from their credibility and mar their online personas. Just one theory...

People don't bother posting their scores repeatedly because it's not relevent. Most people have posted their scores at least once - if you really want to find them, search through old threads

If someone is giving advise on how to score high on the SAT, I would assume they would be comfortable sharing their scores and performed well.

Since many people have asked regarding the scores, it's obvious others are interested in the scores and have not seen them. If advisors are not comfortable sharing their scores...all they have to do is say so. Though I would have to wonder if they are giving advise, why they would not be comfortable sharing how they did - even if they ballpark it.

I dont think searching through a bunch of old threads is the best way to find someones scores..ie what if they never shared them.

wow people here really hate kaplan and pr, don't they? well kaplan has risen my marks from 640/640/630 M/R/W to 750ish/700/700

its definately not enough to give you 800's, but pretty generic stuff to raise marks to about the 700 level.

I'm not really an expert (rising junior, missed five freaken questions in a practice exam this morning), but I usually skim. Underline the first two and last sentences of the first paragraph. Then the first and last sentences of each subsequent paragraph. For the rest of the passage, just skim. . .you really don't even have to look at the rest, since most of the questions are so specific that they give you the line numbers.
Oh yeah. . .for all of you awesome people who got high scores, I have been SAT prepping for two years, and I still can't get 800's. . .I can't seem to get rid of the one or two mistakes per section. . .usually these are questions where you have to "infer" things from the passage. For the writing section, the situation is the same, only the type of questions I miss are the ones that you have to depend on your "ear". I am going to take the PSAT / SAT next October / November, so do you guys have any suggestions of what I can do to get rid of these mistakes? I am shooting for the 240 / 2400 Should I just push on and do more problems? Or do you think buying Grammatix will be worth it? Or is there some grammar book I can read?

Thanks a bunch!!

Joe,

Are these scores from the Kaplan diagnostics? If so, I would not trust them! Their exams are notoriously easier than the real thing.

You are joking yourself if you are shooting for a perfect score. The most anyone can "shoot" for would be a 2300 because the rest all depends on luck. Also Kaplan's materials are still bad to this day, they always have been. Just use the CB Book.

Harvard_Genius, I disagree. I know of someone who "shot" for a 2400 and sure enough, reached it. For math, one only needs to learn the concepts and a perfect score is easily attainable. For writing, like math, one needs to learn the types of errors that show up on each test. The essay, with enough practice, shouldn't be a problem. Critical reading, arguably the toughest section, is all about reasoning. If you know how to approach the problems, it too should not be a problem.

That said, the actual process of going about doing this is incredibly difficult. However, if someone actually mastered it, then "shooting" for a 2400 is not a joke.
