PSAT Small Group Tutoring vs SAT Small group tutoring from Kaplan?

hey my brother is becoming a rising junior and wants to know which class is better?

hes taking the PSAT in october 14th and the SAT in May 2010.

the PSAT small group tutoring takes place from september 15th-29th.
the SAT small group tutoring takes place from September 10th to OCtober 20th.

Money is not a issue.

the PSAT class has 3 3-hour lectures and the SAT class has 8 3-hour lectures.

Hes really looking into getting a high grade on the PSAT.

the PSAT class is 1 hour away while the SAT class is 30 minutes away from our home.

Go with the SAT class. It basically covers the PSAT since it's just a simplified version of the SAT.

If it were up to me, I'd skip the classes all together. If money is not an issue, he's probably better off with a private tutor (and actually tutoring can often be a lot less expensive than Kaplan anyway). But I second the earlier post that if he does want a class, there's no point in taking a PSAT class. Go with the SAT.

Self-studying is usually more effective provided he doesn't lack motivation.

The *only* thing that has been proven to help a (P)SAT score is familiarity with the exam. You can get that by going through a book on your own or taking a course (or getting questions txted to you, but I digress). Your brother will get greater familiarity and a more comprehensive overview in an SAT course; it'll also save some gas. But, along with the other posters here, I'd recommend no course at all.
