I have a question on the Oct 2009 writing section now that score reports are out...

So I'm 99.9% certain I got the Bartholomew question wrong on the writing section but on my score report, it says that the one writing MC I got wrong was an easy-level "improving sentences" question...

What WAS the right answer to the Bartholomew question?

Im also dying to know the answer to this question. It may resolve future ambiguities if by chance we were all to encounter this question again (GOD FORBID)

If it helps at all, I think I put "No Error" for the Bartholomew question. Then I'd really love to know what the easy question was that I got wrong.

I did a search and found that the sentence was something like:

"Although i am well acquainted with Bartholowmew and i know of his interest in the painting, I was astonished to find out he went to such lengths to obtain it."

If the College Board thinks this question is easy, then it (THE COLLEGE BOARD) also thinks the answer is no error

edit: from what i can gather, this was not an "improving sentences" question. it was an "identifying sentence errors" question. am i correct? if so, the answer was E since you say that you got no other question wrong

I think I put "obtain it" as an error because it was ambiguous. Was this the thing people on CC were all up in arms about?

I think I got that one wrong anyway... But not the best of questions.

I don't think "it" was ambiguous. I think the answer is No Error.

''To obtain it '' is perfectly fine. When I was doing practice tests, there were such questions ,in which ''it'' was the last word of the sentence and was underlined. In these cases,'it' was erroneously used ,but 'it' referred to activity ,or verb. Here ,'it' is perfectly right referring ''the painting''

Somehow I too missed one "easy" improving sentences question. Along with one other incorrect, it made my score a 790.

I know for a fact that the answer to the bartholomew question was "no error" because I got all the questions right.

^sorry, that came out really snobbishly.

I got 800 in writing. I missed none on the multiple choice, and I know for a fact I put No Error for that question.

No error is right, I think. I put that in and I got -0 identifying sentence errors. But lord, that curve was unforgiving (78 MC for 1 wrong?)
