How important is it to take Math IIC

Hi
How important is it to take the Math IIC if your college requires that you take subject tests? I'm applying to Berekeley, NYU, Virginia. Definately taking Spanish and French (almost guarenteed 750+ on both tests).
I'm an Irish applicant, and while our maths exam is actually harder than IIC, the topics are so completely different that self-studying for iic would be too time-consuming. I'm finding literature (the backup option). very hard and struggling to get above 700 on PR

To get to the point of my question:
Is Math IIC so highly esteemed by American colleges that even a 650ish score score would be better than no score at all? Looking at the "What are my Chances" forum I can't see anybody who hasn't taken math iic as a subject test, so is it vital that you take this subject test?
