Commonly Asked Questions Re: SATII

Since the same questions seem to be consistently posted, I thought it might be a good idea to start a thread so people can quickly get the answers to their questions. Feel free to add more questions/answers =)

Quote:
What happens when I get to the test centre?
You'll be given a booklet with all of the subjects in it. For your first test, you will open the booklet to the appropriate subject, and copy the test's code into your answer sheet.

After the first test is finished, there is usually about a 5 minute break before the 2nd test. Again, simply turn to the appropriate page and copy down the test code.

Quote:
Can I write a different subject than I originally signed up for?
Yes, all you will need to do is code in the subject you want to write. Say you signed up for US History, but decide you want to write Chemistry. When you sit down to write the test, just open up to the Chem page and write down the code for chem. You don't need to notify the proctor.

Quote:
What if I signed up for 3 subject tests, but I only want to write two?
Just finish the two tests you want to write, and walk out of the test centre. Again, you do not need to notify the proctor; just leave when you are done. You will not be refunded for the third unwritten test though.

Quote:
Can I add a subject?
Yes. This time you probably will need to talk to the proctor to fill out a form of some sort; the Collegeboard will bill you for the extra test.

Quote:
How many subject tests do I need?
Most universities only require 2 subjects. A handful (i.e. Harvard, Princeton, Georgetown) required 3 subjects.

Quote:
Do Math I and Math II count as two subject tests?
No, typically colleges will take either Math I or Math II, not both.

Quote:
I'm planning on applying ED/EA. When's the latest I can take the SATII?
All colleges (as far as I know) will accept October scores. Some will also accept November scores; check with the college you are considering as to their policy regarding November scores.

I have the same question as the person above me. I took Math IIC yesterday, but i dont think i did so hot so i want to take it again in June when I will also be taking the US History test.

Anyone know the definite steps to make this work?

what if you stay for 3 testing periods, but at the end only turn in 2 completed tests?

you would be in huge trouble right?

...Probably, because I think they'd assume you spent the extra hour working on the one of the two tests.

I can't see that being a big deal; the Collegeboard will just send you a bill for the extra test.

I just remember when I went in to write the SATIIs, the person checking us in told us that if we wanted to add a subject test, to just stay behind and talk to him after everyone else was checked in. I'm guessing it just had to do with the fee for the extra test and making arrangements to pay for it. Hopefully someone else reading this has done it before and can add more information...

anyone remember details on what they did to add an extra test? (talk to the proctor, etc) does the student need to have a credit card with them or can it be billed?

I talked to my proctor and she said "Just take two, they'll bill you for the extra one", she did not give me anything to fill in or pay for. But now I am kind of nervous because I really want both tests scored and CB haven't sent me anything yet. Should I call?

What shows up on my score report?
Your score report will show all of the scores from all the times you have taken the SATI and SATII; you have no way to "eliminating" lower scores from the report, or picking and choosing scores to send.

If you cancelled a test at one point, those will not be shown at all
I.e. You signed up for Physics, Chem and Bio, but decided to only write Physics; no record of Chem or Bio will be shown.
