I came out of this test thinking I got around a 750 and was confident it would be my highest subject test. I only left 2-3 blank. Somehow I got 680, which is lower than any of my practice tests and I managed to score higher on Chem with 720 (without taking the class) and Math II with 690 (running out of time leaving 13 questions blank).

Yeah, as has been stated, that system only applies to the regular SAT. But thanks. There are only two logical reasons for getting a low score; the first being that the questions were subtly tricky, and the second being that there was an especially harsh curve due to overall high scores. The first one doesn't really apply since I thought that the test was relatively easy and straightforward, and that seems to be the general consensus. Unless I got every single questions wrong that I was even SLIGHTLY uneasy about, I can't see how my score would dip as low as it did. I'm not sure what the average score was for this test, but we have yet to have someone come forward who scored an 800.

I've sent an email to the CollegeBoard asking for any kind of information, I'll keep you guys posted. Keep those scores coming in...

the curve must have been really harsh, or the questions are that tricky.

to be honest, that's the answer, even though i am still shock i didn't get a 780.

Yea, i definitely thought I got an 800. But I got a 780. I know it's only 20 points, but I still feel something fishy happened.

This from the CollegeBoard:

"Thank you for contacting The College Board.

We have received your email in reference to the U.S. History SAT II Subject Test. We will be more than happy to assist you.

The multiple-choice sections of all SAT Program tests are machine scanned. The scanning process is subject to careful and systematic quality control to ensure accuracy. If your marks conform to the published instructions for marking the answer sheet, the scanning and scoring processes, combined with the quality control procedures, are designed to produce an accurate score. However, if you believe the process did not produce an accurate score, you may request a multiple-choice hand score verification. When hand scoring of a multiple-choice score is requested, your entire answer sheet will be manually reviewed—you cannot request verification of scores for a single section on the SAT Reasoning Test or a single Subject Test.

If your marks conform to the published instructions for marking the answer sheet, there were no errors in the information filled on the answer sheet, but there was an irregularity in the scanning and/or scoring process, your score may change. In this circumstance, your adjusted score will be automatically reported to your score recipients and your score verification fee will be refunded.

Processing errors are quite rare, but scores may need verification for other reasons. If you receive a score that is very different from what you expected, think about whether you might have made an error in filling in the information on your answer sheet. For example, if you marked the wrong test identifying code on your sheet, your answers will not be matched to the actual test that you took. When you request a multiple-choice hand score verification, we will do our best to determine if you made an obvious error in filling in the information on the answer sheet. If we uncover such an error, your score may change. In this situation, your adjusted score will be automatically reported; however, your score verification fee will not be refunded.

For the SAT Reasoning Test, our normal scoring process also includes an independent scoring of each essay by two qualified readers. If the two readers’ scores differ by more than one point, a scoring director will score the essay. This automatic validation ensures the accuracy of the essay scoring process. If you choose to have your essay score verified, we will determine whether there was an error made in the scanning or processing of the essay scores assigned by essay readers. If such an error is found, your adjusted score will be automatically reported to your score recipients and your score verification fee will be refunded. Essays will not be re-read for scoring purposes.

Not really informative, but that's what I got back in an email. I think I'm just going to retake this Saturday.

sorry for intruding on this thread but...

was the test more like the Sparknotes (pretty straightforward) practice tests or like the Barrons (HARD) practice tests....i understand your opinion might be skewed by the bad results you got, but whatd you think when you took the test

thanks.

tnb19,
I used both books. Barron's content was really good, but the practice tests were incredibly hard. I missed probably 30 on each test. On Sparknotes, I averaged 760-800 on the tests and I think they were better indicators. I made a 800 on USH back in June.
