US History: AP vs. SAT Subject Test

What are the differences?
Similarities?

Is there any material tested on the SAT ii that's not tested on the AP?

Thank you so much for your help!

It's hard to exactly address what is or isn't addressed on the different tests. I'd say the differences are more in the different approaches to testing.

That said, the sat II US was very fact-based. While the AP test practically assumed you had the relevant facts down and was more analytical. Generally the SAT II is sometimes considered easier just for that fact.

Both tests are definitely challenging but manageable. Good luck!

I found the AP test to be easier since I studied for it more, but I'm pretty sure they're about equal in material, except as erik said AP is more analytical.

SAT is just multiple choice. AP has essays.

I thought they were similar in difficulty though.

I thought the types of questions were similar. I agree that the SAT was a little more fact-based, but it wasn't completely different. I wouldn't have been able to tell the difference if somebody gave me a US SAT II test and said the questions on it were AP questions.

As for difficulty of the SATII, S got a 5 on his US Hist. AP exam in May and a 710 on the SATII in June. He felt well-prepared for the test and rec'd 710 without additional study.
