NaCl has a pH of 7 because it is a neutral salt formed by the reaction of a strong acid (HCl) and a strong base (NaOH).

Rusting of iron consumes oxygen.

H2O has a higher boiling point than H2S because of its ability to hydrogen bond with other water molecules. It is specifically the reason why water has a such a high boiling point.

I offer no answers, I only feel the need to share that I did TERRIBLY on this test. And I now want to run to a corner and cry.

It was easier than expected, which made me panic on the test because I overthought every question. So I did badly. When I look back to those questions I had trouble on, I can solve them in a snap, because there's no longer any pressure on me and I can think straight.

Results are out online on November 24.

I'm not sure if Barron's covers it, but you should know what colors/odors/state elements and some compounds are. On the last subject test there were about 8 classification questions regarding this! Usually, there are 4-5.

For instance, Chlorine is a gas, Bromine is a liquid, and Iodine is a solid. The reason these halogens are all different states is because of Van der Waal's forces, which increase in strength between nonpolar molecules as the atomic mass increases (chlorine's mass is less than Bromine's, which is less than Iodine's).

Chlorine is a green gas, bromine is a pale-yellow liquid, and iodine is a dark, metallic purple-black solid.

Know the difference between Arrhenius acids/bases Bronsted-Lowry acids/bases, and Lewis acids/bases.

Also, NH2 and NH3 are basic because they are proton acceptors.

The carbonyl group -COOH is an acid (carboxylic acid).

In equilibrium motion between two systems does NOT stop, it is just equal amounts of particles exchanged.

Be familiar with molecular geometry (linear, bent, tetrahedral, etc).

In organic chemistry, an alkane is saturated and has only single bonds, an alkene is unsaturated with one double bond, and an alkyne is unsaturated with a triple bond (or two double bonds).

Know how to count the number of sigma and pi bonds in a molecule. A single bond has one sigma bond. A double bond has a sigma bond and a pi bond. A triple bond has a sigma bond and two pi bonds.

H2O has a higher boiling point than H2S because of the hydrogen bonds in H2O (takes more energy to break the bonds).

score coming out soon ahhhh i'm nervous
anybody feel 'good' about this test
I'm definitely not
I'm pretty nervous cuz this test was like my last chance
and I really need to get at least a 770
I would be very satisfied with 770

yeah Im thinking like 760.

I felt terrible after the test, like I should cancel my scores and try again later....

but after thinking about some questions and reading this thread I think I did okay. Not as good as I "should have"

well for me it's the opposite
I thought I did pretty well
but after reading this thread I found out that I made really stupid mistakes
I'm sure I did make some other mistakes on other questions too
I'm predicting a 750 but it would be great to get 770
