West Point or Kings Point?

I'm struggling with the decision of choosing between the two wonderful academies(USMA and USMMA) and would appreciate any outside opinions at this point.

They are both great- much depends on what you want to do, as each offers different options. If you have not already stayed overnight at USMA and USMMA, I would suggest doing that- I know it helped our son with his choice. Best of luck to you, and congratulations on two wonderful appointments!

Climbs.... I second Navy2010's advice and kudos.
Definitely schedule your overnight visits. Also, you may want to carefully look at the curriculum and view the course selections. The studies may impact your decision....Good luck!

climbstomper,

Yet another cybermom is chiming in to agree with navy2010 and prayerful mom. Make the most informed decision you can. Visit both academies, go to classes, talk to the students to see what their plans and goals are, and see which truly fits you and your goals best. You're absolutely right, they are both wonderful. There will be similarities and differences and only you can sort through those. Best of luck to you and please keep us posted.

forget all these PC answers.

USMMA all the way

j/k. Look at them both very hard and take your visits if you haven't already. If you are unsure about going active duty then put USMMA higher, if you definately want to be an Army officer then go to WP. Tough decisions to be had

Climbstomper,

One thing to consider if you are an athlete. KP is NCAA Division III and as such, the opportunities to participate at the varsity level are greater than they might be if you are not a recruited athlete at USMA. My son is had the opportunity to chose between USNA and USMMA. Part of the calculus was that the coach at KP made him realize that at KP he will be part of the team and travel with the varsity and get a good number of matches in. At USNA, he probably wouldn't have seen a varsity match in 4 years.

Just another thought.

Like everyone has said, go visit both before making up your mind

I think KP2001 said it. If you are set on active duty in the Army then West Point is the way to go, but if you are undecided or just not 100% sure KP may be the win-win choice for you. My son went into KP saying without a doubt he didn't want active duty, that was part of the attraction for him, 6 months later he is talking about going active duty in the Army. I think that will be the first of many "mind changes" he will be able to have during the next 3 1/2 years. But one of the best things about KP is that you have the option of making decisions where with the other academies your couse is set before you begin with fewer options. Good luck with your decision.

You can't go wrong either way. Weigh your options and what you think you want to do. Then don't look back.
