| Ladies,
Those of us who have Firsties are gearing up for service selection. Cross those fingers and toes! Jen, from what I have heard it is scheduled for Nov. 15. I am going to need more Lady Clairol before this is all over!
Yes, we have worms here in Alaska. One of them works down the hall from from me. Oh, earthworms. Yes, and they are probably good and frozen by now, since it was 2 below yesterday.
I can't wait for commissioning, yet I am trying to really savor this last year. He found out yesterday that he has yet another round of physicals next week. There is always another hoop to jump through.
Additionally, anyone who can go to FPW should certainly take part. We had such an excellent time! Take care, I gotta go and put all the summer stuff to bed before the snow gets too deep!

| Congratulations Oregon Mom! How exciting!
What I can't get my mind around is the fact that six of my son's best buddies are engaged and getting married after commissioning. The first wedding he's in is the day after graduation. I told him he better start a "wedding present/travel fund"
We're going over to Annapolis today to bring Boy his winter clothes (it's finally getting chilly here) and have a quick lunch so he can visit with his little sis (she's home for her fall break). If I get any scoops, I'll pass them along! |

| Nothing more exciting than a wedding! Congrats
Another week and a half to our visit! Good things planned. Meeting up with roommates parents and grandparents. Going to the Delaware game. Dinner with the group and the highlight the Halloween Concert. This year the mid is not doing lighting so that he can spend the time with the visiting rents. |

| Lets talk about dating at the academies... give me the low down.. Lola has a "date" saturday but says she feels like Middle school as they have to ride the bus to go see a movie, have to be in by 12 like Cinderella, etc. And then she says.. "What calls it a date?" "Just because we're going to a movie.. is it a date?"
So moms.. lets talk about dating at the academies. (and he is 4 yrs older than her..but is a plebe too.. forgot that point) |

| Can't help you out as you know home town honey for the youngster....
Bus thing shouldn't be an issue - saw many a young couple riding the bus to dates when living overseas - and for that matter on the Metro in DC too. It is just all of including the teens think you got to drive a car any where you go!
Do hope he does come to her room to get her - no meeting on the corner... |

| I was just reading your posts, and while I am not part of YOUR "ol' pals" group, I can't wait to have one of my own. Do you all know ea other personally or just through forums such as this one?
Anyway, good luck to all of your kids and to your families. I can imagine how proud you must be! |

| Steeler Country here!
My S is being recruited for fencing (duh?!) at USAFA and while not a recruited athlete, is also applying to USNA. As I write this, he is talking to an ROTC recruiter (Navy/Marine) in case he winds up at his 2nd choice (well, thrid if you count the two SA's as 1 and 2), Notre Dame. No fencing at the USNA, except at the club level. Lots of Div1 fencing at ND, club team and town team too, which is only half bad according to S. He has been invited to tour USAFA in a couple of weeks - the official recruiting trip. He can't wait!
Son's twin is applying for USCGA, but now I think he is focusing his efforts on Notre Dame, NROTC there too. He's a lot less sure of his future than his twin.
Glad to be here, among the best of the best MOMS! Thanks for the invite.
Also have S at Hillsdale college who would love to fly for the Marines when he graduates. He's already a pilot, since age 17, and a certified Air Traffic Controller. Also wants to go to Law school so he's got a lot on his plate the next few years.
D, 16, loves military guys but is not sure it is what she wants for herself. Torn between pharmacy, meteorology (the TV weather girl!), and pre-vet. She is also a great fencer (#6 in US Div2) so I think that will open lots of doors for her. |
