aspen,

I spoke with my daughter this evening. She is not at all interested in beef jerky, nor are her roommates. Although this was an amusing idea, if I send the jerky, I can just imagine your son finding out about it and asking if it was meant for him.

navy2010,

Those brownies were really, really good. Someone in my office said that she saw them on the foodnetwork recently. What better endorsement can there be? The food network and me...

aspen,

I think you may have found your next career (we're all supposed to change several times during our working years). Actually, I'm partial to the OFA that you developed for parents trying to earn an appointment to an academy. Bring that monologue, too.

Maybe WP can have a parents' talent show at ppw.

She loved the brownies! Claimed they were better than mine. No doubt!

Momoftwins:

Glad your daughter enjoyed the brownies. My wife called our son (she finally conceded that our son is not going to initiate many calls home ) and found out that our son had received the Big John's Jerky. He said it was really good but, (now pay close attention since you're about to hear crow being eaten) it wasn't as good as the chocolate chip cookies he got from a family friend.

I am shattered. I thought I had raised him better than that. Maybe it's all the sensitivity training he got (ok grammer police, received) during CBT. Hope I still have time to figure out where I went wrong, revise my parenting skills and then put some overtime into properly raising our second son. Only, a couple more years before he leaves so I need to get started right away. Red meat for dinner tonight !!

Momoftwins, don't be hurt... If I were to send mine a piece of dog rawhide, he'd say, "This is the best thing I've ever eaten!" He says that about everything I send. I think its just because they're so deprived of any kind of treats.
Aspen - Thats cause he was talking to his Mom. LOL Here's the thing. You may have been feeding them the wrong stuff! Want me to send you some of our gator jerky? Yeah Baby! Now thats eatin'!
When I talked with Jamz today, he requested a big roll of summer sausage, crackers, canned cheese (you know, that nasty spray stuff). Said the little beef sticks and jerky were great and all but he wanted something a bit more for when he might skip a meal. Actually, he called the little slim jims, "amusing" unless you can find 50 of them to eat all at once. Live and learn!

You've given me hope (or at least some plausible deniability) about my son's preference for chocolate chip cookies over beef jerky. That gator jerky sounds interesting. Can't get much more Southern macho than chewing on some dead, smoked swamp critter. Boy was I naive, I always thought Gator Jerky was what the coeds called the guys at Unv. of Florida.

Ya know you guys, I was thinkin'. Your girls could make a killing on the black market if you sent them beef jerky. They could mark it up say.....400% and sell it to the boys and clear enough loot to buy tons of chocolate chip cookies & brownies!

Dead smoked swamp critter! Thats a hoot!

Jamzmom,

That looks great. I'm ordering today. Now here's my new favorite. It's a Chicago favorite and I can guarantee it'll be a hit. Both the cheese and the caramel are to die for!!

Great! I'll save this one for the holidays for sure! It'll be a good thing to send that can be shared as well. Poor Mrgreenapple... to like those cup o noodles says a lot. If I could, I'd send you some "real" soup! Hang in there!!
