USNA09mom....oops and so sorry just saw your post now about the Daily News article...I too posted the same article yesterday! (you know what they say about great minds?)

We live outside of Phila.;yet, I did not read this story until yesterday. Never heard it mentioned on the radio nor was there any reference to it in our local paper (not the Phila. Daily News) ....usually the only news I see or hear regarding our troops is bad news!

Well, I guess I better keep up with all the posts at CC so as not to duplicate other's entries.

death by happiness,

In response to a request for healthier boodle (I think she's serious about this marathon thing), I just ordered the sampler package of fruit leather from the site you gave us. They sound great and you're right that the price is good. And free shipping! They also have an option to order free samples.

Does anybody have ideas for any other healthy snacks that we can order and ship? They can't keep real fruit in the rooms. Guess I'll have to eat all of her brownies.

I was asked to send more gatorade and crystal light powder for the ever present water bottle.
I just googled mail order healthy snacks and got: http://www.healthy-eating.com/cereals_sweets.html. Some of these are almost funny - Dagoba Fair-Trade Organic Chocolate Bars and soy chocolate truffles, vegan marshmallows and energy bars. I suspect the caloric content is as high on these as regular candy & moon pies - but it's natuaral! Back to the salad bar for me...

momoftwins: Please let me know if your daughter enjoys the fruit leather. I really do love them and often eat them over junk food when searching for a snack.

death_by_happiness,

She just received the package from stretch island today and likes it a lot. The price is great and it tastes good, so I'm sure I'll order again. Shipping took a long time, but it didn't matter too much.

I just found another similar site with fruit leather and other "healthy" snacks available. http://www.everydayfruit.com/ Some of the stuff looks really yummy.

Boodle find! These guys are awesome. Their catalogue looks a little sparse right now, but I think it's a new line. http://www.stewleonardsgifts.com/home.cfm If you're ever in Conneticut, you should visit their store in Norwalk. Lots of tasty food, and the largest dairy selection anywhere.

Okay, let me submit one that I found as a cadet (looking for healthy snacks) and have used since, to include shipping it to Baghdad and Germany! I'm a fan of www.nutsonline.com. Tons of dried fruit, nuts, WONDERFUL coffees (never drank it till USMA--now I'm addicted...), teas, snacks, etc. They deliver really quickly regardless of where you are in the world, but especially to the E. Coast cause they are in NJ. Just my two cents!
