I'm new at this, but very excited! These are awesome ideas! Another idea is sending items that aren't just good for the tummy, but the heart as well. Something personalized or themed. I'm planning on investing in seasonal cookie cutters, no two packages will be alike!

I had been sending Jake all of the usual stuff in his care package thinking it was all good. When I heard from him, he said it took too long to eat the food I sent. He wanted something soft to stuff into his mouth quickly with high calories: He asked for TWINKIES. So I bought a package at Costco and sent it. SUCCESS!!!!!!! They went so fast, I had to send more. Of course, some stayed at home for DAD and brother!

Box size...

Hello, thank you for all the ideas and info posted. Please tell me if boxes sent from home have to be a certain size / type. Also, are you allowed to send any time or only once a month.

Thank you so much..

I had fun reading this old thread. Great info. Waiting for son's permanent USNA address.

The best beef jerky on the planet is Ede's from Amarillo, Texas. I work all over.....out in the field......take it along often and all of my clients (ok, mostly men) are always asking "Did you bring that jerky this time?" These guys are some awesome cajun cooks, Texas BBQ afficianados, etc. I looked at their web page and do not see a provision for ordering it. Sent them a message inquiring........

By the way, I am a mom, and I love the jerky, as does my daughter. Of course, we are in the cattle business. Ede's also sells the seasoning, if you are inclined to take on the jerky makin' at home.
