don't laugh - what about the "eye Q"

ok this is a strange question but does anyone know if the "eye Q" software can make a difference in my reading for the SAT? Maybe I am just too desperate for a 760 :P

I got the software from a buddy and it works if you're trying to accomplish some things but it doesn't make you an amazing reader.

It exercises your eyes so that they flow very fast through the pages. It does it on purpose so your brain automatically adjusts itself to the amount of letters that are seen by your eyes. Eventually you stop reading words to yourself inside your head and start just reading and understanding as soon as you see the words with your eyes.

I don't knwo if that clears up a lot but that's how it worked for me.

But don't let this fool you, this software will NOT be enough for a 700+. You need to read books that you're interested in and give the time for complicated reading. Don't pick out the classics just because people tell you they help. Find the classics that actually appeal to you.

For example I kept trying to read Dickens but he's just not my type of author. So I began to look for something different and I found Ayn Rand and I love her work.

So commit the time to reading more material that gradually increases in difficulty and that you understand the points being made in the text. Also read magazines and newspapers. Once you learn how to read quickly and more effectively you'll enjoy reading a lot more.

You certainly do not NEED the software to score high. You could borrow it from someone who has it and just install it and use it for a month or a couple of weeks. BUT ACTUALLY USE IT. It really isn't worth the price they've given it.

You're better off getting a library card, which is free.

hmm i recently saw the TV ad and was thinking about purchasing it. it was originally made in Japan and recently brought to America.

I wouldnt say im a slow reader, but since next yr ill be in college, I want to be time efficient with hw and lots of reading. I was wondering if anyone knows anything about this software and if it really helps u read faster, and more importrantly, help comprehension (whats the use of speed reading if u cant retain that info?). thanks

I've used Eye Q and I believe that the exercies alone have helped me become a better reader. However, this does not seem to help w/ the critical reading section because the questions are not guaged toward the random detail of the passage, rather the section as a whole.

If you are not a reading person don't sweat it. unles you plan to major in writing, lit, english, or any language for the college of your choice, you can get a 2200+ sat by perfecting your math and writing scores. SAT reading is one of theh hardest sections to STUDY for. Even if you are a great reader/english student you can be stumped. IF you can raise your scores by 150 or mroe points for studying a software for an hour, it's a scam.

good luck tho
