Official RD Waiting Thread Class of 2016

So I noticed there isn't one like there was last year.

We can say what state we are from, prospective majors, and what we like about Smith.

CT, engineering, and I'll have to get back to you on what I like about Smith, there's too much!

I'm also waiting.

New York, theatre or engineering or who even knows yet. I think a better question would be what don't I like about Smith?

Yay! I'm excited someone started this. Thanks, CPUscientist.

I'm from central New York. I want to major in neuroscience, but I'm an English geek, too, so I'm excited about Smith because of its open curriculum. I'll be able to fulfill my science major AND take as many language classes as my heart desires! <3

I also like the house system, and the campus is just awesome. Can't wait til late March! Smith is one of my top choices.

Great thread! I feel like the wait is taking forever so it's nice to connect with others who are in the same boat.

I'm from Northern Virginia and I want to major in theatre. I might double major with either english or anthropology. I love theatre and Smith has a great program, but it is way more flexible than a lot of other programs. I can do a lot of theatre but still explore all my other interests. I also LOVE the housing and really just the whole environment.

I haven't visited campus yet, but I'll be there on Tuesday! I'm super excited

I love everything about Smith, just the surrounding location doesn't appeal to me (not Smith's fault of course!) I need city, busy streets, people, lights on 24/7

Hmm, CPU the streets of NoHo always seem busy to me, lots of hustle and bustle downtown, shops, theatres, music halls, restaurants, etc. Are we talking NYC busy here?

Yes, that's what I meant. Apologies for not making that clear. I didn't apply to any schools in NYC, but many schools in places like Pittsburgh, Miami, Boston, etc.

I just like the feeling of being on the streets of a huge city like that.

Personally, NoHo is one of the biggest factors drawing me to Smith. I love that town!

From East Texas and I plan to major in Comparative Literature. I plan to take advantage of the open curriculum to explore my interests in computer science and pop culture. I pretty much love everything about Smith. I'm actually only worried about the food since I'm an extremely picky eater.

I'm from San Diego and I'm planning on majoring in Gender Studies, with a second major/ minor in Biology or Anthropology, and a minor in Dance. I love Smith's sense of community, the housing system, its programs in the areas I'm looking into, esp. Gender Studies and how friendly and interesting everyone was when I visited!

From CT here, still deciding my major (probably SWAG or American Studies with a concentration in gender coupled with some sort of foreign language major or minor). I love EVERYTHING about Smith and a month has never seemed like such a long time to wait </3

Noho, the open curriculum, the student body, and the housing system are some of the things I particularly love. I hope we'll all be classmates next year!

Thank you for the luck and info, kristina!

ohreally877, I hope we'll all be classmates too. At the present moment, Smith is my top choice, but it's interchangeable with Scripps. All depends on my mood. ><'

I'm from Virginia, I'd love to major in linguistics and Global Studies or something along those lines....and I love pretty much everything about Smith! Except I accidentally got sent an acceptance letter by a well-meaning alumna. :/ Crossing my fingers for a real one!

I'm from Colorado and I want to do a double major in English and East Asian Studies, with a focus on Japan.

I love Smith for so many reasons! I haven't visited the campus yet, but the pictures are amazing. If I get accepted, I plan on going out to visit during spring break. I think the house system is super awesome, and it's one of the main reasons why Smith is in my top choices! (Wellesley and Smith are currently tied for me.)

The other main reason why I love Smith is that there are no "distribution requirements." To me, that's just a college's fancy way of saying, "We know you took tons of mandatory classes in high school, and despite the fact that you've dealt with four years of that, we're making you take even MORE mandatory classes that are of no interest to you! Have fun!"

I know exactly where my interests lie and what I want to do with my life. I'm so tired of math and science it's not even funny :P Can't wait until college where I can actually explore things I enjoy! Like art, and foreign languages, and film, and drama, and psychology, etc. I like that Smith won't weigh me down with 2 years worth of distribution requirements, lol.
