Dreaming in French by Alice Kaplan

For interested Smithies and families, this year's summer reading for firsties is Dreaming in French: The Paris Years of J B Kennedy, Susan Sontag, and Angela Davis, (2012) University of Chicago Press.

I picked up a copy for the daughter and one for the wife and myself. I thought it might be fun to read what the firsties will be discussing at this year's August/September orientation.

FYI

Thanks, David. I am going to request a copy from my library. All three of these women are fascinating in their own way.

Also, since I enjoy following such things, could you give us a heads up when they start making the housing assignments etc.? I kind of took that role last year when my daughter was an entering firstie.

She is going back early (August 22) to get ready for her role as a Student Academic Advisor(SAA). She is looking forward to it.

Boss51-- FYI and other interested families, firsties' housing info is in plus STRIDE selections (top 8 choices plus student write up on their various abilities) as applicable is in as well. In July as I understand it, housing assignments and STRIDE assignments will be made.

I've read the "Intro" and several pages into J B Kennedy from Dreaming in French this afternoon. I like it so far, especially since my daughter will be consuming it shortly. I won't
comment (but I like it) so as not to spoil the reading.

David

ps-- The first 10 pages has Smith all over it! Go Smith!
