Opera Opportunities

I know someone on here asked a while back about opportunities for a daughter who was interested in pursuing opera after her four-year degree. This invitation came to me via facebook about a student Opera performance going on at UMASS, and I thought it might be of interest, just as an example of something that an operatically inclined student could be involved in for performance. A girl I lived with at my old house at Smith is one of the singers.

Name:Love in the Time of Opera
Tagline: An evening of opera scenes
Host:UMass Department of Music
Type:Music/Arts - Concert
Time and PlaceDate:Friday, May 2, 2008
Time:8:00pm - 10:00pm
Location:Bezanson Recital Hall, FAC
Street: North Pleasant Street
City/Town:Amherst, MA

UMass Opera Workshop presents a night of opera scenes based around a central theme: love. From falling in love to falling out of love, fatal attraction and mistaken identities, this year's performance runs the gamut from the best to the worst of love.

Scenes from:
Mozart: Cosi Fan Tutte, Le Nozze di Figaro and Die Zauberflöte
Hoiby: Summer and Smoke
Smetana: The Bartered Bride
Verdi: Falstaff
Tchaikovsky: Eugene Onegin (side note from S&P, I LOVE Eugene Onegin)
Floyd: Wuthering Heights
Paulus: The Postman Always Rings Twice
Moore: The Ballad of Baby Doe
