Chances for ED II?

This must get old, but would someone mind chancing me for ED II?

GPA: 4.0227 Weighted, 3.5 Unweighted
SAT: 570 M, 680 CR, 800 W (took again, will get scores back on Thursday)
ACT: 29
Top 25% of my class
Top 100 Public High School
Full International Baccalaureate Diploma Candidate
Had an interview at Smith; think it went very well
Lots of Extra Currics and Leadership Positions; particularly involved in Drama
English Lit major
Good Essay--I want to be a professional writer

Also--could someone explain to me the difference between ED I and ED II? Is it just the date? Or is there a better chance of getting in with ED I?

Thanks!!

It's mostly the date. Maybe ED II has a few more applicants because it's later in the season, but I don't think that it makes such a huge difference in terms of admittance. The admission rate is slightly higher for ED applicants, but usually that's because it's a self selecting pool. Only people who are really good matches for Smith and really love it are going to take the chance to lock themselves into an ED agreement.

I think you have a pretty good shot, not a total lock, probably not a candidate for merit aid (you are very meritorious, but merit aid's tough to come by at Smith). You're an IB candidate so even though your GPA is a little low, you must take the most rigorous courses offered at your tough high school, so that will matter more than what your number is.

SATs aren't too bad, Math is low, but if you can bring that up and/or balance it out with good grades in your actual math classes it shouldn't hurt you too much. And if you want to major in English, you should be okay.

You should be fine. My stats were about the same as yours and I applied with the largest applicant group ever for Regular Decision, which is harder to get into than the Early Decisions. Just don't skimp on the essays.

It's not like any of us are Admissions folks or have any say at all or whatever, but you probably have as much of a chance as any other good applicant if it makes you feel any better.
