Computers

I know that this is a strange question, but I should start thinking about it. I am starting to collect the things I will need for college, and I have a question about computers: laptop or desktop? It seem like a desktop would be better for this college, since students don't need to move their computers. They mainly walk around with a book and a pen, right? ...I don't know. I would love some input. Thanks a lot!

My advice would be to probably ask some Johnnies about the pros and cons of which computer to take- especially upperclassmen. Would you like to be able to type a paper in the library? There aren't many library computers available for students, so a laptop might be handy. On the other hand, I believe that you'll have your own private dorm room in Santa Fe!

You can email questions to student volunteers directly from the website- if you don't know anyone there yet.

My son is thinking about St. John's. How did you decide between the Annapolis and Santa Fe campuses? I see you are not from the West or Southwest. What appealed to you most about the Santa Fe campus, and least about the Annapolis campus?

Please share as much of your decision making process as possible. Thank you!!

Thank you for your response. The library is something to consider. That completely slipped my mind.

I am happy to hear that your son is interested in the college. It seems like a life-shaping opportunity to get that kind of opportunity.
I chose Santa Fe for many reasons. It ranked higher on every princeton review list including Happiest Students, Teachers get High Marks, and Best Overall Academic Experience.
I also fell in love with the culture of santa fe and taos. I go to a very diverse high school and I was happy to see how diverse santa fe is. I am very interested in the arts too. Santa Fe is very 'artsy' and it has a famous opera house. Also the Santa Fe campus is considered more laid back than annapolis.
The dorms are very nice and have great views of the mountains. Many have balconies that overlook the gorgeous land. It seems very relaxing. Students can also leave the campus on foot and go hiking up the mountains.

It seems like the perfect place for me right now. I hope this is helpful.
