iMac15, if you don't mind me asking, did you apply ED or RD? I'm wondering if your notification means we might also be hearing soon.

I applied RD, and sent my app in on the day of the deadline.

The letter was dated 1/19, but I received it yesterday, and I live in NY.

Thanks for the info, iMac. I don't know that my D has the superlative stats for this honor - but it would be great to get some hint that she will be accepted so we could arrange to visit early enough to get cheap flights. Will you be visiting on Feb 8th?

Yeah I got my letter a couple days ago too! I'll be there on the eighth. I don't really know if i want to attend or not yet though. The 8th will probably make a big difference for me. Is SMCM your top choice?

I most likely will be visiting. It's not my first choice, I first heard about it from a PR guidebook. But it seems awesome!

i visited it this summer. it was nice, like SUPER chill feeling and friendly, but i couldn't really tell since there was no one there... but the possibility of a full ride is QUITE good. I'm excited to check it out while classes are going though. Started thinking about the essay yet?

WAIT. This offers a full ride? I thought it was $3,000 plus any other scholarship?

And I know they accept 16, but do we know how many the offered?

oh. you're right. i just reread the letter. it mentioned that like some may get a full tuition waiver, but not so much in connection to JUST the nitze thing. haha it's a bit less appealing now. oh well, i'm still psyched to check it out. I thought they only accepted 14 though. and i looked around to find how many people they send the letters to, but i can't find a number anywhere.

For a second I thought it conflicted with the Superbowl and I seriously was having trouble making up my mind.

But yea, I'll be there!

Congratulations to all of you who have heard about this opportunity! SMCM is an awesome school if I say so myself, spent 4 awesome years there graduating in 1986. Just visited with my son and daughter for an admissions tour last week. They told us some scholarship decisions were ready to go out, and I am guessing they were talking about you guys! The coolest thing for me this past week was meeting up with some of my old professors. Turns out my favorite Econ. prof. is now the head of the "make your own major" program (Don Stabile). I think you will all love your visit to SMCM. If you have never been there, pay close attention as you round the last turn and the river opens up to your right with the campus on your left. It sold me! I look forward to seeing what you all have to say after the 8th. If you have any questions, ask away.

P_Moscoso, I'll accept your gracious offer to pose a question....

Were you an in-state student? My d is applying from out of state - far out of state! - and I'm wondering if that difference would set her apart too much from the other kids, given that it's a public - and therefore MD-dominated - school.

Also, the remote location, while beautiful, makes the trek to/from the airport a bit harder - was that a hassle, or were you close enough to home so that you always drove?

Thrilled to hear the endorsement from someone who has actually been there!
