Considering St. Mary's for son, particularly since we are Maryland residents, but am having trouble getting past the name. I understand it is named for the county - but it really does sound like an all-girls Catholic school. Wondering if this bothers other prospective applicants as well, or am I being ridiculous?

I am a maryland resident as well, applying to college this year, and also considering St. Mary's. In my opinion, the name does not matter all that much (i'm jewish and the name did not deter me from this school)

The name bothers my son too but not enough to deter him. We're from out of state so most people haven't heard of it but it is his number one choice.
