What a Stanford applicant should NOT do

Instead of asking the regular "What is Stanford looking for?", I want to know what they are NOT seeking in an applicant. What are the major mistakes that I should definitely not make when applying to Stanford? What are the things that you wish you had/hadn't done when you applied to Stanford?

Thanks.

What you shouldn't do? Don't end your essay saying '...and that's why I want to go to Harvard/any other college'.

I don't think there is a right or wrong thing to do. All adcoms are different and they all look for different things all the time. Imagine what the school would like like if everyone was the same with the same interests. People just need to be themselves and hope that what they have to offer is exactly what the adcoms are looking for that day. I'm sure it changes daily depending on the type of students that they have already admitted/accepted.

) Well- I wish there were many stupid Stanford applicants, but unfortunately there aren't...at least that's what I've heard.
