Waitlist spots are pretty sporadic so they could admit as many as 100 people (max I see is 95 in 2003). I don't think it'll be 0 again this year. Just by judging the atomsphere here at CC I can see a lot of admits have plans elsewhere too. As long as long as <1700 people enroll you waitlist people have some chances.
To answer the questions above, as waitlisters you don't *need* to do anything other than send in the reply card and wait at this point. You could always improve your slim slim chances by sending in updates/final transcripts etc but realistically it's better to use your energy elsewhere. Even if people decided to mass boycott Stanford this year your chances will not be > 10%.

A part of me feels honored to have been even put on the waitlist for re-consideration since I don't think I'm a very stellar candidate in terms of academics.

Yes I have a 4.0 GPA but I'm not ranked #1 out of my class or something like that. I have a 2280 in SATs, okay Subject tests and nothing stellar in my Extra-Curriculars. Just little random things here and there. I guess my essays kept me in.

The question is, do I send in a final transcript? And I really don't want to have to wait till July for a decision. Would I get something in the first week of May? Something along the lines of you are likely/unlikely to be offered admission to Stanford? I just don't know how waitlists work at all.

But I have great schools (Duke, Cal, NYUStern) to fall back on so I'm happy about that. But this has just made me worried about Monday.

I think we have a right to feel a little special. 6% really isn't much at all, and it just means that Stanford wants to hold on to us because we did qualify but there are so many kids that qualified for Stanford, they can't let everyone in. *sigh*

I think we all did pretty decently.

Okay...if you all really wanted to ask that..I guess go ahead and send it. It'll be in your file when they re-review it. GL.

Waitlisted.

3.85 unweighted GPA (probably around a 4.2 weighted), 2210 SAT, 2 sub-700 SAT IIs, 8/264 weighted rank

I did have a great essay and really good recs, plus legacy - i suppose that's what got me waitlisted

i'm not too optimistic, so Cal Poly here i come

Waitlisted! But I was expecting a rejection, so it was a pleasant surprise. Is it better if I accept the waitlist place earlier than later?

I don't think it matters when you accept your spot on the waitlist as long as it's within the deadline. The way Stanford makes it sound is that they don't even begin reviewing waitlist candidates until they find out if they need them; this would be on/after May 1.

Meh, I guess I'm putting myself on the Stanford waitlist..

If I end up getting off it & being accepted, then I'd have huge decision making to do..

I was just thinking about this now... If Sanford is NOT need-blind in admission for internationals, would an international asking for aid also have a harder time getting in off the waitlist?
