| I don't believe the system is sending e-mails all weekend as planned. If that were true, they would have said "sometime this weekend" instead of "March 28th." There's something wrong in their server, or in our e-mails, and it's plain disregard that they, first of all, use an imperfect system like e-mail only and that there's nobody in the office to correct the problem. We all paid, what, $70? |

| True, but I think that, for the majority of people who aren't so interested in admissions that they are posting on a forum about it (not an insult at all ;-)) probably don't even know about this sudden early mailing. |

| on the other hand, at least we know they are still sending out e-mails!
that rules out the broken system hypothesis |

| My guess is if you went through the Stanford website, it will say somewhere that, as long as you receive any kind of decision (mail or email), they've done their job. If there's something more serious wrong with their email sever, you'll still get your decision in the mail next week. But judging by the fact that there are still many people who are just receiving the emails, I don't think that's the case. We're just being delayed, nothing more. |

| Yeah, I doubt it's broken, it's just a slow system (it takes a while to send 25,000 emails!). |

| The point is - whether the system is broken or not - they chose to send decisions by e-mail ONLY. I can't say how wrong that is. With e-mail, there will always be people whose accounts spam the message or don't receive it. E-mail is an imperfect technology, especially for high-stakes, high-volume college decisions. |

| Wait, are people still receiving e-mails as we speak? Like, within these past thirty minutes has anyone received their Stanford notification? |

| yeah,
in the rejected students thread someone posted the letter of rejection.. and it says that "to be environmentally conscious" or something like that they don't send out letters
and also to save you the pain of going through it twice |

| The only thing that helps calm my nerves is the knowledge that there are many people waiting as I do around the world. Very happy to talk to CCers. Guys, you're all so nice~ I enjoy your company during this hard time~ |
