- Summer Activities: Summer school tennis, cross-country camp, calculus BC through CTY.

- Weaknesses: Essays might have been a little similar.
- Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: I don't think there's a reason, like "I should've done better on xxx" or "I'm so good at yyy." There are a lot of great applicants, and honestly I'm proud of myself for being waitlisted.
- Where else were you accepted/waitlisted/rejected:
Accepted: UVa, Brandeis, MIT (yay!)
Rejected: Yale
Waitlisted: Princeton
Other: Only school I might have possibly chosen over MIT, so I'm a little relieved that the choice was made for me.

I'll decide over the summer. I will make it my life's goal and purpose.

| Decision: Waitlisted Objective:- SAT: 2300 superscored (770 m, 760 CR, 770 w)
- SAT IIs: 760 Math 1, 730 French, 710 Math 2
- ACT: 32 (didn't send)
- GPA: 3.89 unweighted
- Rank: School doesn't rank
Subjective:- Essays: Overall excellent. I thought they were the highlight of my application - Common App was a synthesis of morality vs. artistic expression during a theatre production I was in, and my first two short answers were very reflective of my personality. My Why Stanford?, however, was a major fail.
- Teacher Rec: Didn't read, but I chose teachers that like me :-)
- Counselor Rec: Same as above
- Hook (if any): Double legacy (father and grandmother)
Location/Person:- State or Country: WA
- School Type: Very small independent private
- Ethnicity: White
- Gender: Male
- major strength/weakness: Strength: Essays, test scores Weakness: G.P.A, my music audition possibly
- why you think you were accepted/rejected/defered: Even though I'm a legacy (father and grandmother), I've never been to Stanford's campus...consequently my Why Stanford? was somewhat lacking. I'm shocked I was waitlisted and not rejected!!
General Comments: Congratulations to everyone who got accepted! Hopefully I get off this waitlist :P

| Decision: Accepted Objective:- SAT I (breakdown): cr800/w790/m740
- ACT: did not take
- SAT II: US History (770), Spanish w/ Listening (750), English Literature (710), Math Lvl2 (710)
- Unweighted GPA (out of 4.0): 4.0
- Rank (percentile if rank is unavailable): 1/485 (tied)
- AP (place score in parenthesis): CalcAB (5), USH (5), English Lang (5), Spanish Lang (5)
- IB (place score in parenthesis): did not take
- Senior Year Course Load: Microeconomics, Government, Biology, Spanish Literature, English Literature, Latin Literature (all AP)
- Major Awards (USAMO, Intel etc.):
National Merit Finalist, All County Academic Team, other random things. Subjective:- Extracurriculars (place leadership in parenthesis): NHS, CSF (secretary), Key Club, County Youth Advisory Council (secretary), Link Crew, School Site Council.
- Job/Work Experience: none
- Volunteer/Community service: 200+ hours with Key Club, CSF, NHS, plus volunteer at library and children's museum
- Summer Activities: Community college courses and continued volunteering
- Essays: I was very proud of them, although my Common App essay topic may have been risky (I wrote about atheism).
- Teacher Recommendation: Did not read either, but I am sure they were excellent. I'm really close to both teachers!
- Counselor Rec: Awful. Unfortunately wasn't able to see it until a month after she sent it. It was a paragraph long, had misspellings, and was the most impersonal thing I'd ever read. Oh well.
- Additional Rec: Perfect. My boyfriend (who was also accepted!) wrote it. He covered all bases - extracurriculars, academics, plus that personal side all colleges like to see.
- Interview:
Didn't have one Other- State (if domestic applicant): California
- Country (if international applicant): US
- School Type: Public
- Ethnicity: Caucasian/Asian (Filipina)
- Gender: Female
- Income Bracket: Below $80,000
- Hooks (URM, first generation college, etc.):
I don't know if being an Asian really helps, especially at Stanford. Reflection- Strengths: SAT Score, essays
- Weaknesses: Counselor rec, extracurriculars a little deficient
- Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected:
Lots of hard work and lots of luck. General Comments: Congrats to everyone else who was excepted, and good luck to everyone who is still awaiting a reply. Honestly, this whole process has shown me how much the college admissions process is a gamble. Waitlisted at Duke, WashU in St. Louis, and Harvard, and REJECTED at UPenn. I was so surprised!!! : )

- SAT II: French w/ Listening:800, US History:720, Literature:690
- Unweighted GPA (out of 4.0): 3.8
- Rank (percentile if rank is unavailable): 2/~350
- AP (place score in parenthesis): US Gov & Politics 5, taking Calc AB, Statistics, French Lit (self study), French Language (self study), English Lit, and Comparative Gov & Politics (self study) this year

- Job/Work Experience: customer service job at REI since fall 2008
- Volunteer/Community service: tutoring, conservation, political stuff
- Summer Activities: mostly travel / work
- Essays: common app was about political volunteering; the mini ones were alright - the one about "intellectual vitality" was about this really boring conversation i had... and i turned it into this awesome anecdote. my "why stanford" was all about school spirit... i just reread it and it was AWFUL hahahaha
- Teacher Recommendation: one was phenomenal (from my government teacher who made me want to study political science; she let me read it and she got all teary-eyed… basically she says I’m the best student she’s ever had), not sure about other but it didn’t seem to hurt!
- Counselor Rec: unsure… but pretty decent I’m assuming. I don’t think she’s very intelligent and she’s been unsupportive of my reach schools, but I know she respects me a lot and wrote about my personal initiative and passion for learning, which is the most important thing.
- Additional Rec: -
- Interview: didn't have one
Other- Applied for Financial Aid?: nope
- Intended Major: political science or economics, can't remember
- State (if domestic applicant): NC

- Income Bracket: high
- Hooks (URM, first generation college, etc.): URM, moved around a lot
Reflection- Strengths: extracurricular political work, essays?
- Weaknesses: test scores & GPA
- Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: i've done a lot of things because i love them, i guess. i've made the most of everything, even though i've gone to three high schools. multicultural background? that could be it.
General Comments: i am soooooo happy. i was really and truly expecting absolute, outright rejection. i thought my essays were awful and i rushed this application horribly. i'm kind of speechless. like, my face is freaking twitching. i was with my best friend when i saw the email on my phone and i had to make her read it for me!!!
