Hello!

I’m going into my junior year at university and I’ve decided that I want to study abroad to Sweden for this upcoming spring term.

After hours and hours of research I’m still coming up empty handed and feel more clueless each time. Could anyone explain to me how to create my course schedule? I’m not restricting myself for the courses that I want to take except for a Swedish language course.

I'm also leaning more towards studying at University West or Linnaeus University.

Any help or advice would be much appreciated, especially from someone who has studied abroad in Sweden. I would also love to hear about what university you studied at and your experiences there.

Hi there!

I'm currently in my last year of secondary school in Sweden, which means that I'll be applying for university in the spring. Consequently, I'm having homey feelings with the Stockholm University's website for the moment Perhaps this link will be of interest (Choosing your courses - Stockholm University) even though it doesen't concern UW or Linnaeus Univeristy.

I've been looking at courses at Södertörn University and I've found enough to make me full-time. Although, scheduling them to see if they fit together is a little confusing to me, so maybe you can help!

This is what I have:

Swedish for Exchange Students 1, 7.5 Credits
Week 04-13 / Part-time / 50% / Day

Swedish for Exchange Students 2, 7.5 Credits
Week 14-23 / Part-time 50% / Day

Media, Culture and Society 1, 7.5 Credits
Week 14-18 / Full-time 100% / Day

Sweden: Society and Culture, 7.5 Credits
Week 04-08 / Full-time 100% / Day


Every single course says 'day'. So I'm still unsure if they fit together. :/

I can't be sure of the scheduling, but full time classes normally consists of ~3 lectures/week and these aren't always madatory. The rest of the time is for self study... which means a lot of reading. "Swedish for exchange students" should include more than reading in my mind, but it's taken part time. I believe your best chance of finding out is contacting the university directly. Als, the exchange students courses obviously fits together, but week 04-08 and 14-18 represents Part 2 and 4 of the term respectively. That means that you'll be alternating between 50 % and 150 % study pace.

Would alternating between 50% and 150% study pace be a bad thing? Or would it just potentially be really stressful?
