Liberal arts = well-rounded person (hopefully). Become articulate, eloquent, literate, analytical - and not just in sciences, but also in literal, politics/social sciences. Uhm...why abroad in the US? Well, you probably have your own reasons why.

Liberal Arts = because i enjoy it. I studied business for a few years before Arts and i was so bored with it.

Study Abroad = why not? If you have the funding and the options there why not try something new ?

I remember writing this essay a year ago. My answers were structured on 3 levels:
Why study abroad?
1. Romanian university system is becoming more and more of a joke, at least in my area of Humanities-Social Sciences.
2. Even if that weren't the case, studying abroad is still worth it, because of what this experience adds to you as a person. Trite and worn as it may sound, study abroad is a very enriching experience (please, puh-lease do not use this in your essay)
Why the United States?
1. Only in the U.S. can you find something like the Liberal Arts. No need for the high level of concentration European students have to undertake.
2. As a practical consideration, the U.S. is deffinitely more doable for someone who can't afford paying for their education abroad.
Why Oberlin?
Here I can't tell you what my answers were, because I would be giving away too much. I can tell you just this - go through their viewbook and site and find out what you like about Oberlin. Only then can you really answer this question. But, by all means, do not write "I like Oberlin because it's a great college" and all that b.s.

btw, doesn't Oberlin normally have it's d/l on Jan 1st?

To live the vibe, the passion, and the life of XCollege. To meet other dedicated and talented people who you don't mind living with for four years and mates for life.

Thats what I wrote one of the DS essays.
