I'm a History/Spanish major and am really interested in IFSA- Butler in Peru at the Pontificia Universidad Catolica de Peru in Lima next spring semester as a junior. Has anyone been to Lima or Peru for that matter, and what did you guys think of the experience?

The main reason I am interested in Peru is because I am writing my senior history thesis on Chinese and Japanese Peruvian immigration during the 19th and 20th centuries, and since there hasn't really been that much research done on the topic, I would want to spend some time collecting sources/interviews/primary documents/etc while I am there.

Well I haven't studied in Peru but I have been there twice. I am Peruvian myself, and I have been to Lima. I thought Lima was lovely but it has a lot of pollution in the air. Peru would definitely be a good place to go for that because there are Asians that have immigrated there, and there is an Asian influence with some of the food there. If you have any specific questions you can PM me and I wil answer the best I can because my mother grew up in Lima.

Peru is a wonderful country. Lima has its own special aspects, but if you go to Peru, make sure you visit other towns. Lima is really dirty but it also is a huge city, so it will have more opportunities to study. I say go for it! Just don't stay in Lima the whole time (and make sure you stay in a nice part of Lima, because there are some crappy places).
