Manchester & Exeter

Hey all,

I am a business major, looking to study abroad the spring of my junior year. Does anyone have any insights or experience with the Manchester Business School or the University of Exeter in the UK? Any stories or info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I don't know anything about those schools in particular (I once had an interview at Manchester uni but turned it down for Cambridge) but I have been to both Manchester and Exeter. Manchester is a big city (for the UK. About half a million) and it's supposed to have the largest concentration of students in Europe. It is hugely popular among UK students and has a reputation for being a party city/school in general. Also famous for football (soccer) and rain. There are many shops (google Manchester Arndale centre), a big airport (you can fly there direct from the US)and lots of stuff to do.

Exeter is in the south-west of England. It's a small place and if you want olde England that this is your place. It's very pretty and the surrounding county of Devon is beautiful, wild even. If you lijke the beach this is also a good choice as it's warm (for the UK that is. People grow small stunted palm trees in the gardens just to prove it) and the centre of surfing (with adjacent Cornwall). It will be a lot quieter than Manchester I am sure. It does have a small airport but only for internal flights (i.e. you can go to France for £1, but not out of Europe). This is the area where English people go on holiday.

I don't know about the schools per se, other than they are considered reasonably good ones, but the living environment is going to be quite different in the two places.

There is a UK board similar to this at
www. the student room .co .uk

Remove the spaces and it will work. I suggest you ask there and you will probably find some current students who can give you more information.
