Chinese University of Hong KONg

Hello there,

Could anyone shed light on this university for doing a study abroad? I am a industrial engineering major and interested in going abroad. Even though I have visited Hong Kong in my travels, tHis seems to be my only option available but not too sure about it.. On google maps, it looks like its quite far away from downtown. While academic quality is a factor, I'm going more for the social experience so was curious how it is..

Thanks

For social experience in Hong Kong, go to HKU. They have the best hall life. HKUST and CUHK will be furthest from "downtown" HK, but only about 30-45 minutes away.

HKU will have the best social experience, but it will depend whether you are seeking cultural immersion or just hanging out with exchange students. If you are just hanging out with exchange students, all 3 universities -- UST, CUHK, HKU will be ok.

Hey BoelterHall, did you do the program at HKU? I'm considering studying abroad at either HK or Paris, so if you have any feedback on your experience at HKU, it would really help out with my decision!

i studied abroad spring 2008 at the Chinese Univ of Hong Kong and had the time of my life!!! Yes, it is further from downtown because it is in the New Territories region, but public transportation/MTR is great in HK so it was never a problem. While I was there I also was friends with students who studied at HKU. Both are GREAT universities and either way you'll have a great social experience so don't worry. If you have questions you can email me at my secondary email address: faithfulxangel@yahoo.com
