Hey, does anyone know of any competitions or additional qualifications that would look impressive on a Cambridge application.

This is 100% dependent on what course you apply for at Cambridge because they will ignore irrelevant ECs. Eg if you are intending to apply to study English, acting in a Shakespeare play is good. Lab research would be ignored. The opposite would be true if you were applying for Natural Sciences.

Note that the application deadline for 2010 entry has already passed.

All of the above is relevant to students applying to enrol as an undergraduate at Cambridge directly. If you are instead planning to study there through a study abroad programme, contact the study abroad office at your school for assistance because the requirements are often very different.
