Telluride Association Summer Program (TASP) 2013

Hey guys!

I thought it was about time for a TASP thread, so I took the liberty of making one for the purpose of discussion and whatnot.

I'm personally looking forward to seeing this year's writing prompts! Anyone else excited to apply?

Feel to discuss whatever you want about the upcoming app and the program itself. Also, if any former TASP-ers want to chime in with their advice, that'd be fantastic.

Good luck, everyone!

    So, GrammerNazi, I really am not a fan of your username.
    First of all, you spelled grammar wrong. It's not that hard to spell grammer correctley. Also, Nazis were some of the most evil people of the 20th centruy. I'm not sure why you wanted to associate yourself with them.
    just my opiniun though;)

    anyway, which college would you rather go to for your TASp to be at? Cornell or UMICH?

    The username's supposed to be tongue-in-cheek humor; since many grammar elitists are referred to as "grammar nazis", the misspelling was intentional for the sake of humor (though, I really want to point out some of the misspellings in your post but I'll restrain myself). I do have to credit a friend for it though, for it wasn't my genius that came up with it ;)

    As for choice colleges, I haven't really made up my mind yet since the seminars haven't been announced yet. Once that happens (should be soon), it'll be clearer. I'm slightly favorable to Michigan just due to location (a lot closer to home than Cornell), but I don't want to get ahead of myself.

    Of course your going to point out my misspelled words becuase you don't have an actual argument. all in all, you seem shallow and pedantic.

    I agree, if I were going to have to choose to decide as to where my TASP would be; I would probably choose Harvard becuase its the most definately best college in the country and it's business school is where I am going to apply. (getting that cash!) My SAT score is through the roof (1340 M+CR) so that ought to help along with TASP!!

    but between Cornell and UMICH, i would probabley choose Cornell, just becuase it is a IVY and also it is also a part of the IVY League.

    Ah, just thinking about how awesome this will look on my resume is giving me shivers:)

    Its going to be great!

    ^ TASPers hate people like you. FYI, no one will care about your SAT score or Ivy League aspirations. Best to get over yourself now. Assuming you even get in, which at this point seems unlikely.

    @ItsAThing
    First of all, I will use good and super propper grammar just to show that I can.

    First of all, your username makes no sense. Whats a thing? Its just dumb.

    Also, BOTH of my parents went to the Universtiy of Alabama who are #1 IN THE ENTIRE COUNTRY RIGHTNOW IN FOOTBALL. Schools are basically begging me to go to them.

    Secondly, I'll come right out and say it, I'm smart. My 1340 is only single sitting and my super score is a 1360. So that means that I basically aced it and scored in the top .01 percent of all test takers.

    Ive never gotten below a four on an AP exam. How many people can say that?

    My dad told me that if you go to TASP, you basically get accepted to any school in the country. This is definately the program for me. I know that I'm going to ace the interview becuase I watch practice interviews for IVY LEAGUES SChools and colleges all the time on youtube!

    So, ItsAThing, Ive basically shown how shallow and pedantic you are. Way to go.

    Moving on, I didn't want to come here to argue with these uber argumentitive children. I came here to assosciate with my fellow future TASPers! Can someone civilised provide a decent conversation partner??

    On the matter of Cornell versus UMich, I think I would definitely choose UMich, especially considering what I've heard about Cornell fraternities...

    ^finally a real conversation!
    Ive heard that Cornell Fraternaties are wild!

    I agree. TASP has never been about high scores or achievements. No one cares if you are a national merit scholar or got a 2400 on your SATs.

    Yes, I have too, and that's why I'm concerned! I'm not sure that that environment is really what a TASP should be like...wouldn't it interfere with the intellectual pillar they speak so highly of?
  • hogwartstrawgohhogwartstrawgoh Posts: 49Registered User Junior Member
    Lets be honest:; who cares about intelectual pillars? I'm going to TASP to have fun and to have something awesome to put on my resume. I also heard they dont give grades so I won't even have to do anything!!

    Hog, +5 for being a good troll.

    @grammernazi
    Im sorry if you think that I am a troll or if I have come across that way. Honestly, I just am super excited for all that TASP has to offer to us and I wanted to make a bold impression on this board. Form now on I will control my words.
