The German War Graves Commission (volksbund deutsche kriegsgräberfürsorge) run summer camps throughout Europe every summer that are generally a mix of work on the upkeep of war graves and memorials and general history sightseeing and lessons. As a history nerd looking at doing history at university, I am hoping to attend one next summer for two weeks. But I had a few questions:
Has anyone here attended one or is looking into it?
Do you think it will be a problem attending one in germany when I speak no german (obviously it would be one with the working language english)?
I would still be under 16 during the camp, but would have my birthday within a few weeks, do you think they would let me on one of the ones only for over 16s? Otherwise I would probably have to wait a year as the younger ones were all in German
Thanks for any help!
