i went to pgshc last year and it was a really great experience.
as far as work...there isn't too much, although you'll become progressively more exhausted as time goes on. the only real work is that you need to keep a journal that must be 75 pages by the end of the 5 weeks.

if you do something that is deemed inappropriate, such as passing a note, falling asleep during a lecture, or whatever...you get an incident report form or "IRF". someone issuing you an IRF sounds very laughable indeed..but last year they began to give us detention for IRF's because we were a "troublemaking" class.

it was still a great time, but i hope you dont the kind of counselors we did last year.

you'll enjoy it, but plan on living off 3 hours of sleep for 5 weeks straight, and learning to sleep in lectures with your eyes open

Lol, so I heard. A good friend of mine(rather..more than a friend at one time) went to pgshc last summer. Similar experience as Shay described. Overall, I think pgshc is really demanding, so for those who want to be very productive over the summer, definitely go. I got waitlisted and I think today's the final day for calling people off waitlist.

I got into pgsut..but i'm not sure if i want to go. I'm deciding between pgsut and pssi lrsm. Pgsut is on urban teaching, a career field that I know I won't be doing. Pssi lrsm is a course at upenn on material science, and I'm thinking of applying to upenn's engineering school. Governor's school is more well known, has better reputation, is overnight; but pssi is on something that will actually help me. so I'm having a tough time deciding..ughhh

dont spend a summer at a gov school that's of no interest to you just because gov school might be more well known! you would probably enjoy the pssi program much more.

Sadly I did not get into PGSHC. I was wondering what people that did get accepted put in their applications. Appreciate it! Congrats to those who did get in!!
