keilaxender we get it, you love tamora pierce and alpha. You really don't need to post that stuff in a thread about a specific summer camp that isn't alpha.

Furby, a poster asked specifically for writing workshops similar to Iowa. From various descriptions of the Iowa workshop, I believe that Alpha would appeal to a similar demographic (albeit with the genre specialty).

I'm applying to this as well. I'm getting my port ready (it's almost done)--for those who have applied and gotten in, do you think they'd prefer a good variation of "different" writing samples (ie, some poems, some prose, etc) in our portfolios?

^ I don't think it particularly matters as long as its strong writing. Put in youre strongest, regardless of the genre.

^ Wow, that was horribly written.
I meant to say "I don't think it marticularly matters what you submit, as long as you submit your strongest work, regardless of the genre"
I'm starting to think I'm going to need to include a table of contents with mine. |

^ Lucky.
Mine is no where near done. I need two more pages for my portfolio, to edit it a few more times and to finish/edit my statement of purpose, and my teacher has yet to respond to my question about writing my recemendation and I need to see if the school has processed my request for transcripts yet...
Wow. I have a lot to do.

How generous are they with financial aid?
Also i just found out about the program and it takes about two weeks for my school to process transcript. do you think they'll let me send the transcript past the due date?

I second the question about FA.
So, who else will be nerviously biting their fingers for around the next two monthes until acceptance/rejection letters are mailed.
Uhg. I'm going to die when I apply for college.

I won't have finger nails or any new-ish looking pens by the end of spring senior year.

oh dear, I can only imagine... (RE college)
When I'm anxious I can't sleep, and that's on top of the sleeping problems and lack of sleep that I already have.
however, whether i get accepted or not doesn't worry me much. it's a long shot for me anyway, since i'm a freshman and they rarely admit freshmen. i'll just do some community service and take a math class if i don't get in.

Ya, I think I'll spend time up with my family and maybe do some rafting if I don't make it. Oh well, I'm doing that anyhow.
I'll probably end up calling the local food bank and see if they need anything done, along with maybe trying to land a part time job (My mom can't even find one here, and she's been looking down at the jobs I'd get, so I don't have much hope.). An internship would be nice, but there's no where around here I'd really look into going for one.

ARHG! I just realized on my transcript I sent in, it shows a D for my Latin class, because of some crap that happened this year. I already sent my app. Should I send a letter to accompany it explaining, but then again, my Latin teacher wrote my rec, so will I be fine?
Gosh. I feel like one of those annoying "chance me" threads!
