Working at a publication Vs. Working at a lab

I am a rising sophomore. My main ECs are the publications, but I am also very good with math/science. This summer I am an intern at a small local publication which is known to invite back interns for multiple summer.

Unfortunately, (because of my nature) all I can do is plan (READ: WORRY) about what I will do next summer. I need your advice/opinions so I can stop worrying about next summer.

You see, I would really like to work in a lab next summer (NIH, SEAP, local, etc) and not at a publication. I feel that having lab internships the next couple of summers would be more beneficial for my college app than having jobs at publications. I want to show colleges that I have multiple interests and am not only passionate about publications.

What do you think I should tentatively plan to do for next year (other than stop worrying)? Would it be better for me to work at a publication next year or a lab?

(For the record, I do have a real interest in science.)

Thank you so much everyone for helping an overly nervous sophomore! I cannot keep worrying about this dilemma and hope you guys can help me resolve it.
