TASS is for students who have completed their sophomore (10th) year of high school. TASP is designed for those who have finished the junior (11th) year of high school. College is usually intended for those who have finished the senior (12th). Just sayin!

The percentile of CC'ers that were accepted to TASP inspired me to write this.. I'm really hoping I get in! Sounds like the perfect program for me and I'm excited to start the essays! Typically the essays remain the same every year, correct? I'm just hoping I don't get shot down outright, and at least make it to the interview stage : (

Also, since there are only going to be three programs this year, isn't the acceptance rate now at like 4%? EEK!

OMGOMG Finally!
TASPers 2010!

But woah, they're actually killing off yet another seminar?! Will they increase the number of people admitted into each of the other programs though!? D:

@Lemon:

If my Telluridian insights are right, the number of people accepted to each seminar will be the same, thus less people will be admitted this year then previous years.

@Modern:

Generally TA does pose the same questions for the essays every year, although I feel it would be best if you waited for the seminar topics to come out before you began your essays.

@Antagonist:
Ooooh thanks! Did Telluride give a reason for why they're killing off one of the seminars?

Budget reasons; I believe UMich declined to fund half the seminar's costs, as is customary.

Wow. I'm pretty pumped for TASP this year. I can't wait to apply.

Good Luck to everyone.

The Cornell I and UT Austin programs look awesome, but does anyone else think the Cornell II program is a little weak/random?

The Cornell II seminar appears more discipline-based than usual, specifically literature-based. Similarly, UT-Austin last year was an "experimental" seminar with field work and projects instead of long papers.

I'm going to apply as well. Just a quick few questions:
1) Do we have to attend the seminars? What are they for? What are the benefits of attending them?
2) What is asked of the applicant on the application? I know TASP disregards grades/test scores and asks to write essays but that's it? Or is there more?
