can't compare to the college of nj, but about binghamton:
unless you find your own group of friends here, campus honestly might be a little boring. the weather isn't too great (it rains pretty often in the mornings) and 60-70 degree weather is like summer for us. there are lots of clubs here and you get information on events every morning through b-line - a system that sends emails about upcoming stuff. im sure you will be great friends with people in your hall because you guys are so close to each other and also share the same bathroom. great friendships will be built through your hall. if i could make a suggestion, dickinson and CIW are great communities for freshman - theya re corridor style and offer al ot more opportunities for you to meet new people (whereas the suites [mountainview and hinman] honestly make you very anti-social). when the weather is nice, the campus provides so much field area to play almost any sport, its awesome.
academically, i feel challenged and i came from a competitive high school with over 4000 students, with a rank of top 20%.
depends what you want to study also: business (management, finance, accounting) are excellent here - but tough to get into.
liberal arts and sciences - harpur gives you a lot of flexibility with your schedules and offers a wide range of classes, many of which you will find interesting
engineering - watson is pretty challenging and difficult, a lot of students drop out because of workload, but its definitely rewarding
nursing - not sure, but i do know that it's tough
definitely consider binghamton, it's a great place to meet new people who might be new - just like you. you'll never know what kind of friendships you will make here. campus is very convenient - no more than 5 minutes to get to class from your dorms, and there are free buses taht bring you to the mall, walmart, target, etc. best buy is coming soon.
good luck with your decision
