| Congratulations!
My daughter's boyfriend attends SUNY Fredonia as a VP major and neither he nor his friends have complained of boredom. Yes, the town is not that big, but they have a Wal-Mart and some smaller stores and it is within an hour's drive of Buffalo and the big malls there (the drive during the Christmas season takes considerably longer-at least once they hit the mall parking lot!). Cleveland is 2 1/2 hours away and Rochester is a little over 2 hours. The campus is prettier than many of the othe SUNY schools and they have a Starbucks and a large school store too. If you have any other questions, please PM me and I'll try to link you up with someone at the school to correspond with. |

| I see a few acceptances listed -- does anyone know if they are finished, or is there another wave to come? |

| I would give them a call. My daughter auditioned on Feb. 2 and we heard back from them in about 3 weeks. Good luck to your son or daughter. Is this their first choice? |

| Thanks -- it's a student of mine, and this was her first choice. I'm not sure whether it's good or bad that she hasn't heard anything! I'll tell her to give them a call. |

| Jennifer, how many students do they average in each class? It was difficult to get a feel for the program since the only person that spoke to us was Stephen Reese (sp?). Honestly he didn't paint a very good picture of the program, almost talked to us like why bother with this profession when it will be difficult to find work. It would have been nice to have the MT head there to talk about the program or have some students talk to us. I think the program is probably very good, but his presentation didn't help to sell the program or the school like some that my daughter auditioned at. She is still interested in it though. Are your seniors getting work after graduation? |

| Hah, yes that's Steve Rees for you, you get used to him after a while =) He's always like that. In my class, there are about 12 BFA musical theatre majors and 3 BFA acting majors. The program really is a good one; my acting teacher, Ted Sharon, is quite the amazing person. It may not be one of the most well known programs around, but it's a great one nonetheless.
As for seniors getting work, I have a few friends in the senior class that already have jobs booked for after graduation. One for a cruise line, and more for performing jobs in various places across the nation.
Let me know if you have any more questions! =) |

| question for Jennifer Hi Jennifer-
Thanks for offering to answer questions. My d wants to be a stage manager. she especially wants to stage manage musicals, so we are looking for a good MT school that also has a good theatre department with an emphasis in stage managing. It's like looking for a needle in a haystack!
We live in Atlanta, and frankly, haven't found anything so far in Georgia. (Too bad because with the Hope Scholarship here, tuition would be free!)
Do you think Fredonia might be a good fit for her? She's a junior, so we have plenty of time, but I want to narrow down as much via computer, so we don't spend tons on visits.
Thanks!

| Another question for Jennifer My D. has been accepted to the Vocal Performance major at Fredonia. My question concerns the overlap between classical voice and MT. Do VP majors participate/ audition for shows and things or is there a strict dividing line between the two, as there is at some schools. Didn't think to ask this while we were there. Thanks. |

| Musmom2- from what I have heard (from a student in the VP program at Fredonia) the 2 groups take some classes together (such as diction) but VP majors can not audition for the musicals and grad students are preferred for the main roles in the opera but the undergrad females have a hard time even getting cast in the group scenes for the operas(more girls than available openings, even as the opera chorus). The VP majors are required to tech the operas. |

| Pattikaye- take a look at Nazareth College in Rochester, NY. They have an up and coming Tech. Major and are really trying to build the program. As of this year, they are granting quite a bit of scholarship money with an eye to growing the major and out-of-state students usually fare quite well on that end. There are direct flights from Rochester to Atlanta too (but Roch is usually a lot more than using the Buffalo airport, so check both) |
