arador:

Great reporting by the Gazette. I know that your audience is the campus, but those kinds of articles are wonderful for parents and alums.

BTW, your spreadsheet on housing lottery numbers was brilliant. What a terrific resource for students trying to plot strategy and realistically assess options.

The Daily Gazette compiled the average lottery number that bought each room on campus over the last three years.

The article is here:

The Daily Gazette Housing: The Numbers

The full spreadsheet (in PDF format) listing every room on campus is here:

http://daily.swarthmore.edu/wp-conte...-breakdown.pdf

Back when my daughter was entering the sophmore lottery (before she realized that her best bet was to get on Myrt's summer waitlist), she and I started to work on something like this and quickly gave up. The Gazette put a lot of work into this...although they may have had a head start because I think Miles was involved in the project to build a better lottery cohort computer algorithm. In any case, the room by room spreadsheet data is fantastic.

Thanks! We'll be working on a better graphical interface for that next year.

I wasn't involved in the new housing program, but I blocked with one of the designers and I am friends with the other ...

I really enjoyed the links to Jake Beckman's website (creator of the Big Chair).

He has photos of most of his Swarthmore projects:
