That was in a thread about Williams acceptances. You're assuming that applies to the Swarthmore essays. I don't believe myronnie has said anywhere that her mother wrote her essays to Swarthmore.

Unfortunately, all you can really do is ignore it. That poster showed up about a year ago, shortly after a Daily Jolt thread suggesting that Jolters make a concerted effort to disrupt this forum.
The first post from this poster was arguing that Middlebury Vermont was not a more isolated location than Swarthmore, Pennsylvania. |

Or, when you say "all you can really do is ignore it," do you mean that you just ignore valid points that other people make and continue full-bluster ahead?
Seriously, man, you didn't even go to Swarthmore. You have zero first-hand experience. |

| Hey, everyone,
not that I'm trying to rain on your feud, but some of us would actually like to read the stuff related to this topic.
So if you could move with the argument in some other thread (or PM) ...
Thanks! |

| I don't think you can really read into it that much.
We are only talking about Swarthmore taking a dozen to a few dozen waitlist students. They aren't mailing out waves of acceptance letters. They are adding a student here, a student there, usually with phone calls.
There's simply no way to know where they stand in the process.
Interestingly enough, the girl from the Hong Kong school believed that another person in her class had been offered a slot off the waitlist and turned it down before she got the call. You never know...this could have been a case where Swarthmore really wanted to take someone from this particular school for long-term relationship purposes.
We can't know. Each case is individual. |

| ^^^True.
She attends UWC, and Swarthmore's one of the schools that give scholarships to students from those schools.
I'm just wondering how many spaces for internationals are available... and if there still is room, if they are going to take more than one from a particular country... |

| I don't think knowing any of that would provide any meaningful information on an individual's chances. We are only talking about a couple dozen or so from the waitlist, so a statistical analysis just doesn't shed any light. The sample size is too small.
It depends what they've "got" and what they need "more" of. Who knows, they might have been short on Croatian women studying in Hong Kong this year! |

| Shucks, how did NY Times (was it Times?) know that they're taking around 20-25 students? If they told them, I don't understand why it's okay to spread it all over internet, but not tell directly to a waitlistee |
