Who has gotten invitations to "DiscoSwat" so far? This looks really interesting!

I just want to put in a good word here for DiscoSwat and similar programs (http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/1065225586-post76.html) at other LACs. For example, these programs can be one of the best ways to demonstrate interest and increase acceptance chances for an otherwise-overrepresented Asian applicant.

I applied to DiscoSwat last year and was not actually accepted, but nonetheless accepted to Swarthmore through EDII. And I made two friends from another LAC's fall visit program who went to DiscoSwat together and will also be attending Swat.

What's not to love about a paid opportunity to experience college life while a senior in high school!

I think that, for many students, these sneak peak programs make the transiton to college so much easier because, unlike "back in the day", now you don't have to dive into the dark unknown come September.

I could'nt agree more with Keilexandra and ID. From what I know, Swat puts a lot of effort into it. Student volunteers or people who house guests also put a lot of effort into it. Well worth the effort, imho.

DiscoSwat was a really great program last year. I really encourage you all to apply.

Awesome! To all former attendees, what activities did you guys partake in throughout the weekend?

I'd like for my daughter to apply to this program. Looking beyond the name rep--another one of those amazing LACs. They're putting out some great tweets to boot.

^ Nope. I think I read they will be mailed out on the 4th?
  • elbeeenelbeeen Posts: 1,222Registered User Member
Wow that's really late for a program that starts in a few weeks!

I called yesterday to find out when word would be sent, and I was told that an acceptance email would not go out until September 7th or 8th- that they would not be notifying on the 4th as the original email had said.
