Chances for Newhouse

I would like to know my chances of gaining admittance into the SI Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse. My GPA is only so-so (High 80's/B+) but I have taken a fairly rigorous course load and am in two AP courses this year. I'm not that pleased with my SAT scores, but they did end up being a 1300 out of 1600. The main question I have is how much consideration or emphasis is placed on previous experience. As a writer I've been published in a lot of very popular websites and have earned a lot of honors that I doubt any my age have achieved. I'm wondering if this experience could help overcome my low GPA.
