I live in Michigan so I am a bit apprehensive, but from what I've seen, Texas A&M looks like a great school. If any of you are aggies, I'd love if you could answer my questions for me! Really hoping to find the right college.


1) A&M is mostly conservative right?

2) Is it good for chemical engineering?

3) is it a big party school, or is it more studious?

4) on a scale of 1-10, how friendly is it?

5) do the majority have a southern accent? Just wondering since i do not.

6) do a lot of people come from out of state?

7) if you came from out of state? Was the weather easy to get used to? The highest i am used to is like 92F.

I'm not an aggie, I actually graduated from UT but I can answer some of your questions.

1. Yes. There are liberal groups on campus and liberal students will find others to hang out with but it's generally considered conservative.

2. Don't know about chemical engineering specifically but considered very good for engineering. I would think it would be good for chemical engineering because of it's proximity to Houston but that's just speculation on my part.

3. It has almost 50,000 students, how can it not have party school characteristics? I would say that students would find plenty of alternatives to the party scene and it is probably more studious than other schools it's size simply because of the number of people in time-demanding majors such as engineering.

4. I have heard nothing but how friendly A&M students are but won't rank on a scale.

5. Ah-hum, Texans do not have a southern accent but a Texan accent. Okay, some do have southern as oppose to Texan accents and many won't have any noticeable accents except for the use of y'all.

6. 96% of students are from Texas.

7. In Texas, everything is air-conditioned. Summers are hot where you simply do not go outside unless you have to. But winters are great.
